Hey Guys,
I've started to have a problem with my 2007 SR MBP. The screen starts to gradually fade out to this purplish color gray color. Most of the time it occurs when I open the lid and the computer wakes up from sleep or is powered on. Everything on the screen gets 'washed away' although I know things are still working because the brightness and volume controls still work.
Tapping the lid for a bit behind the LCD seems to 'shake' the screen back to its normal state. However, sometimes it'll go right back to the fading out behavior.
Unfortunately I don't have anything to capture it on video at the moment. I've taken pics but still shots don't really capture the problem well. Most of you would probably think its just a pic of my MBP with a boring background. And since I can't reproduce the problem on demand I have yet to take it in for an Apple Store. The following photos are in succession:

I'm wondering if its a loose cable or something since the 'tapping' of the lid sometimes fixes it. The best thing I could find online was the following:

My screen looks like its doing something similar to the above Youtube video except with the entire screen. Although it has nothing to do with an external monitor. Anyone else experience this problem before?

In the Final Cut Pro timeline, Control-click a fade handle and choose a fade option: Linear: Maintains a constant rate of change over the length of the fade. S-curve: Eases in and out of the fade with the midpoint at 0 dB. +3dB: Starts slowly and then moves quickly toward the end. This is the default setting and is best for maintaining a natural volume when crossfading between two clips.

  1. Fade audio in iMovie on Mac. Fades are commonly used audio transitions. Audio fade-ins begin with silence and increase to full volume, and fade-outs begin at full volume and decrease to silence. In the iMovie app on your Mac, position the pointer over the audio portion of a clip in the timeline to reveal fade.
  2. Select the Animations tab, and then pick an animation, such as Appear, Fade In, or Fly In. For some animations, such as Fly In, select Effects Options, as you’ll need to pick a direction for the bullets to fly in from, such as bottom. (In PowerPoint for Mac 2011: On the View menu, select Custom Animation).
  3. Fade In is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Fade In Mobile (see below) is available for Android and iOS (iPhone/iPad). First download the free demo version and take it for a test drive.

As you finish the video or audio clip, you may wonder how to match music with screen perfectly. A sudden sound can screw up the entire video and cause a bad viewing experience. The fade effect helps your audio playing more smoothly. It can soften the sharp sound attack.
